an update?! yes, an update.

so i was just speaking/writing to spano on facebook and he mentioned this blog hasn't been updated in a while. i figured i had a minute while waiting for an email to arrive to do this for y'all. a lot's happened since the last post. we played a shit ton of shows. some good. some not. mostly not. but whatever, that's how it goes for now. i think we realized it's not good to play a million shows in a month that are all mostly in the same city. as good as you think your band is, people just don't need to see the same band that many times in that short amount of time (exception: Lauren, thanks!). so our new plan is to do one, maybe two, shows a month. this way all y'all won't be burned out on the good ole Jet Fighter. Next show is this one:

9/24/2009

6:30 PM at Milkboy Coffee

2 E Lancaster Ave, Ardmore, 19003

with The Back Pocket Believers The Coastline & guests 10 bucks at the door so let us know if you want a ticket early and save 2 bucks!

should be an interesting night. jet fighter at a coffee shop. should we tone it down?? fuck no.

also tom is playing as a lone Jet Fighter on the 12th at Cedar Streeet Studios (3211 Cedar St. Philadelphia 19134. 3pm $5) Go to that show as well!

So in our time off we've been writing a good amount of new material. I gotta say it's the best stuff we've ever come up with. i think you'll all be digging it pretty hard. We'll probably play some new stuff at these shows if you want to check it out.

That's all for now. See you all at Cedar St. and Milkboy!

Rolling right along.

We played what was basically a punk show the night before. Needless to say we are not punk, but it was fun. Our friends in Backwoods Payback, Greater Enemy, etc. were awesome. There was a ton of energy at that show and it was great to see.

Tonight is our second venture out to NYC and first in Manhattan. I am looking forward to getting out of Philly again and traveling a little. I mean, its a lot of work for a 30 minute set, but that's the name of the game. Hopefully we pull off a great set.

We have been considering adding a fourth member to reinforce our sound. We met an amazing synth player, so maybe she will work out. In either case we want to keep our three piece dynamic. Be well everyone.

A good set.

We played Doc Waton's last night and it went really well. It was a rainy Sunday night, so we are thankful for everyone who came down to support us. Apparently there is a new rule: I am not allowed to drink until the show actually starts. It seems all that waiting around before we play we spend drinking the free beer bars give us. I'm the only one who apparently plays better mostly sober. Ah well. I can handle that to put on a better show. Come out Thursday and check us out at the MRoom or Saturday night at the Fire.

Moving in slow motion

I have been running myself a little ragged, doing stuff for the band, while trying to stay motivated to do my art at the same time. The days tick by when you don't have a set schedule. So much free time but it all disappears so quickly.

We have so many new shows coming in. Hopefully this means that the record is going over well with the few people that have heard it so far. Come see us at the Fire on May 9th. Big Saturday show added just recently. Only a week to promote it so we better get busy...

If anyone wants a free sticker, we should have them soon. Email me your address and I will send you one: band@jetfighterband.com

Working out the kinks.

Hey everyone.

So Jared has been away in New York doing artsy photographer stuff. Its actually kind of good to sit back and reflect on our first few shows and make some adjustments. Its difficult making the transition into playing out a lot. I have always been a songwriter first and foremost and though I have played a good many shows, I am still working out the kinks. Its funny, looking at some video of our first few shows made me go out and buy a new guitar. lol. Which is funny because I am broke. Needed a backup and for tone issues. Mr. Mike Spano has produced another rad video - check it out on our myspace. Its weird, interesting and awesome. We owe him big.

The cartoon above is one of my new ones - I have been toying with Toon Boom. I had this big idea to animate a video and I realized...that animating is HARD and TIME CONSUMING. I then had the great idea to leave the video making to the pros, like Mike.

Check out our schedule and make it out whenever you can.

Last Second Addition - Doc Watson's TONIGHT

To anyone looking for something to do later, we suddenly find ourselves playing Doc Watson's tonight April 16th 2009.

Doc Watson's
216 S. 11th St
$5 Doors at 9pm.

We play third, so plan on knocking a few back.

I swear, Jared is a marketing cyborg. He is lining up shows like he is Don King. We would probably still be doing open mic at dive bars without him.

Easter Dinner? Pshhh, naaaah I'm cool...

All of our friends and family hate us right now because we have sacrificed Easter dinner to finish mixing our album tomorrow. But it had to be done. This is the final step in a long process and we can't wait to have the thing done. We have been practicing incessantly too so hopefully we will go into the show on Tuesday sounding like we have been touring for 2 years straight.

Oh yeah, our first video is up on our myspace page - check it out. Now. I am mean right now. Don't even finish reading this sentence.

New Videos Coming

So, news from Jetfighter base camp. Coinciding with the release of the Jetfighter EP will be a music video for each song. We recorded film for the first track last night with our good friend Mike. He recorded some sick material and it is going to be an amazing video. All I am going to say right now is this: Spotlights, vinyl animal masks and rock and roll. Look for that shit.

We have gotten so much support already for the record and its that support that is making all of this happen.

That's all for now, but the touring machine is being prepared and should be ready to bulldoze Philadelphia by early summer. We will keep you updated.

We have liftoff...

So here's our first post. How 'bout it? It looks like things are going to start moving forward as we finished recording the EP last night. We still have to mix it which will happen over Easter weekend. No ham for us this year... We're going to be actively searching for shows to play very soon. If we don't get booked, we will just show up to random shows with our gear and a few nailboards. They'll have to let us play.

Tonight, our good friend Spano will be filming a video for one of the songs of this EP for us. Our plan is to do a video for each song on the album. Why? 'cause it'll be awesome. that's why. no one does videos for ALL their songs... so we will.

Stayed tuned for the record.
